Expanded EDGE UP program offers tech training to more displaced oil & gas professionals
Future Skills Centre (FSC) will invest $5.4 million in the EDGE UP 2.0 program, in collaboration with Calgary Economic Development and partners like Riipen. The program aims to provide training for 320 displaced oil and gas professionals in tech-related careers. EDGE UP focuses on upskilling mid-career workers for the technology jobs emerging in Calgary's economy. The initiative includes a skills mapping study, additional digital training streams, and work-integrated learning opportunities to help professionals transition to in-demand tech roles. The success of the EDGE UP pilot demonstrates its potential to support the economic recovery and meet the demands of Calgary's evolving job market.
"As the world of work continues to change, upskilling is more important than ever. Riipen is honoured to continue our collaboration with EDGE UP 2.0 to provide displaced oil and gas talent with work-integrated learning opportunities to help them apply their newly developed skills,” said Dana Stephenson, Co-founder and CEO, Riipen.
