Work independently or in a group

Match with a solo project to demonstrate your personal expertise or join a group-based project to practice your leadership and collaboration skills

Work from anywhere

All Advance Ontario projects can be completed 100% remotely. With direct integrations to Google Meet and Zoom, you can plan, then take all meetings online from anywhere in Ontario.

Short-term, big impact

Each project is 80-hours in length and completed over a 2-8 week period. Decide with your employer partner the best working schedule.

Give and get feedback

Once your project is over, give feedback to your employer partner and get it in return to display on LinkedIn or your resume.

Get paid on time

After you complete your project (either individually or on a team), you’ll receive a $1,400 stipend within 21 days, powered by Tipalti. You’ll declare this as taxable income to the CRA with a provided T4A.

Multiple Experiences

Eligible students can work on up to 5 Level UP projects per year. Explore different disciplines, meet a variety of employers, and add it all to your resume or LinkedIn at the end.

Fair Compensation

With funding by the Government of Canada's Innovative Work-Integrated Learning (I-WIL) Initiatives program, you'll earn a $1,400 stipend for each project completed (individually or on a team), paid directly by Riipen to you via E-Transfer.

How many projects can I complete?

Students are able to take on one Advance Ontario project.

Do students need to be enrolled in a particular course/program?

Advance Ontario aims to break down barriers, so it is open to any eligible student irrespective of their enrollment.

How are students paid? How long does it take?

Each student will be paid for the project in the form of a stipend which will be sent directly to your bank account. For students working in teams, each team member will receive their $1,400 stipend after submitting your work, completing the required exit survey and receiving feedback from the employer. Advance Ontario operates on a 21 day payout period.Your stipend will begin to be processed when the employer partner provides feedback on your project submission. If 21 days have elapsed and the employer has not provided feedback, the Advance Ontario team will review your final deliverable on their behalf, which may cause your payment to be delayed.
