Projects to match your skills

Browse projects from high-growth, high-paying industries like advanced manufacturing, IT/software development, and clean tech/envirotech, and many others!

Work independently

Match with a solo project that showcases your personal expertise. While your employer may have you collaborating with others to complete projects, you will apply and match as an individual.

Work from anywhere

All Advance Ontario projects are completed entirely online. With direct integrations to Google Meet and Zoom, you can schedule and conduct all meetings from anywhere in Ontario.

Short-term, big impact

Each project lasts 60 hours and is completed over a period of 2 to 8 weeks. The specific 8-week timeframe will be determined by the cohort you are accepted into, with projects aligning with set cohort dates.

Give and get feedback

Once your project is over, give feedback to your employer partner and get it in return to display on LinkedIn or your resume.

Get paid on time

After you successfully complete your project, you’ll receive a $1,400 stipend within 21 days. You’ll declare this as taxable income to the CRA with a provided T4A.

The Advance Ontario difference

Flexible by Design

Each Level UP project takes 80 hours to complete. Learners and employers partner to set a timeline of 2-8 weeks, taking into account class and work schedules.

Multiple Experiences

Eligible students can work on up to 5 Level UP projects per year. Explore different disciplines, meet a variety of employers, and add it all to your resume or LinkedIn at the end.

Fair Compensation

With funding by the Government of Canada's Innovative Work-Integrated Learning (I-WIL) Initiatives program, you'll earn a $1,400 stipend for each project completed (individually or on a team), paid directly by Riipen to you via E-Transfer.

How many projects can I complete?

Students can complete 1 project per funding cycle. Read our FAQs for more information.

What are cohorts?

Cohorts are designated time frames within which students can complete projects. Students may participate in only one cohort per funding cycle. If you complete a project in one cohort, you will not be eligible to join another until the next funding cycle. Read more here.

How do I secure a project?

The first step is to submit an application for a cohort. If selected, you will have the opportunity to apply for up to three projects. Once your application is accepted, your employer project will commence during the specified cohort dates. Learn more here.
