HIP United is a startup developing a virtual platform connecting holistic wellness experts with users worldwide. HIP is an acronym that stands for Health In Progress.
HIP United’s holistic wellness experts will specialize in all facets of holistic wellness: financial, mental, social, spiritual, and intellectual. The organization will launch and host the platform as a place for experts and users to connect so that users can obtain the services they need virtually.
The Riipen Level UP program has provided valuable operational assets to help HIP United get started. Through the program, university students contributed to foundational outcomes that will be used by HIP United for years to come. HIP United Founder and CEO, Amie Reiman, partnered with one such student, Krishno Sarkar, for help with financial forecasting to obtain business grants. Krishno has a background in chemical engineering and petroleum refining systems engineering, but data analytics began to excite him, so he explored this interest by completing a graduate certificate in Business Data Analytics from Cambrian College. As he worked on the year-long certificate program, Krishno sought real-world experience through the relevant data analytics Level UP project with HIP United.
This project match met the needs of both Krishno and HIP United. Krishno used the data analytics skills he was honing to create a detailed business plan for HIP United that included financial forecast projections, projected business expenses, and income and balance sheets for the next five years.
Krishno’s work on this project was invaluable to HIP United.
“We are following the assumptions and forecasts that were put into place... A lot of stepping stones were put into play by students that we are going to use as gospel,” Amie shared.
She is grateful for the bright minds from the Level UP program who had the practical application of skills to work with real numbers for companies and make a difference in the future of HIP United. Krishno gained confidence in his data analytic skills which has prepared him for future opportunities.
“I already started another forecasting project with an oil and gas company,” he shared.
To Krishno, what sets his Level UP experience apart from any other is the hands-on methods it offers.
“When employers see the projects you’ve done on your own where you are trying to solve a business problem and you’re finding a method to getting the project done and you’re overcoming hardships and unknowns along the way; that’s invaluable. That’s experience employers look for.”
While HIP United was working to become operational, Amie offered Level UP students an invitation to be on the board of directors. She values the diversity each Level UP student brings to the core team and looks forward to staying connected with them as HIP United grows.
“I hope Level UP continues and other companies have the same experience for both employers and students,” she shared.
Krishno is grateful to have worked on the HIP United financial forecasting project. This experience exposed him to a new sector and it put his data analytic skills to practice on a relevant project with real outcomes, which led him to his next project.
“I would definitely recommend this method of learning to other students. It makes a big difference.”
